With the advances in technology, anyone with a computer and Internet access can be a published writer....sort of. I my friends am no exception, and those willing to take a ride through my brain with me will have some fun for sure. I've had thoughts on if I would ever start my own Blog, what it would be about and whether or not I would keep it going. So here it is....The First of Many...I hope. I will, as alluded to earlier, take you on a wild ride through my thoughts, interests, ambitions and life. I've had an interesting life so far and will share old stories as well as share my life as it happens...edited of course.
Where to begin...
I feel an explanation of the title of this blog would be a great place to start. Controlled Chaos: Inside the mind of a Hunter. I chose Controlled Chaos because its what I feel someone would describe my mind if they could take a look inside. No one would want to stay long enough because it would probably smell like farts and beer. As for the second part, everyone knows a hunter has to be cunning, swift and agile, precise and accurate and patient. My life in the last few years has had to be just that. With work, ambitions and of course my addiction to a computer game, has made me a hunter.
Another explanation...
I'm a cop in the military. I hunt down those who break the law on base. A far cry from my previous assignment but I do enjoy it. Just this afternoon I was searching for the perfect spot to run LIDAR. (a laser speed measuring device, very accurate, very precise....word to the wise, cop pulls you over and says he measured your speed on a LIDAR? Hang your head and just accept it, he's right.) I looked around the terrain with all the snow and found a spot my white Impala would blend in just enough with out being considered "hiding." I sat for maybe 30 minutes patiently waiting for the right moment and BINGO....40mph in a 30mph zone. I must say one of the best parts is noticing the driver looking down to check their speed when they finally do see you and try to slow down but you already had them waaaaay back, priceless. And of course they want to argue. "I know I wasn't going that fast." they will say. It takes all my power to maintain professionalism and NOT say "Then why did you look down at your speedometer and slam on your breaks when you finally saw me?...HHMMM" Its not like I enjoy ruining peoples day, and my family and friends will tell you I will usually let them off with a warning, but arguers get the citation. I even had a guy tell me this would be his first ticket and when I ran the license he had one prior for speeding and another for not wearing his seat belt. I of course had to call him out on it while I issued him his second ticket for speeding. But enough about work....
I am always on the "hunt" for more knowledge. This is also true in my faith. I have always been a Christian, and at one point coined the phrase "Religious Mutt" to describe myself because I had been most Christian denominations (to include the Non-Denominational churches) with the exception of Catholic. Well I guess you could say I'm now a JOATCC...Jack Of All Traditional Christian Churches. On February 1st of this year my Wife and I were confirmed in the Catholic Church. I haven't always stayed strong in my faith, there were a few years, We will call them the Dark Years, where I was excellent at coming up with an excuse not to go to church. With help from my beautiful Wife, Heather, we learned and prayed and have reached a wonderful starting point with a renewed and refreshed Love for God. This of course will be a great and continued driving force while I'm away from my family for the next 6 months...and of course we will talk about all this later.
With patients, cunning and agility, I feel I've become a pretty good father. I have two beautiful and energy-filled daughters Rose Elaine and Brooke Marie. *deep breath* They are excellent, and a lot of fun, but sometimes Rose, Momma and Daddy want to sleep till 0800, please. This will be a fun part of this blog, they do some funny stuff.
Lastly for this edition, it must be mentioned that I have two addictions. One is Beer, which is going to be an ambition for me and my family because I'm going to start my own Craft-Brewery. I brew my own beer and I do enjoy the process as well as the product. And the other is the World of Warcraft. Yes, I know you can all stop groaning now. It's fun, and I've gotten good at it. That's the other meaning for the name of this blog. Lainatan is my main character and he is a Hunter. So I will probably talk a bit about him an some of my other characters as well as the game in general from time to time. OK you can resume the groaning.
Well, I feel its time to bring the First of Many to a close. I hope I can, if nothing else, entertain you with this blog from time to time and update you on my wonderful life.
Until Later......
Nate
a.k.a Lainatan
