New house, new base, new job and new ideas for beer. On our long trip, driving 5045 miles from Anchorage, Alaska to Valdosta, Georgia, we stopped in Atlanta for a bite to eat and to visit Hop City. Hop City is a nice little beer store with extremely friendly and knowledgable staff and a small selection of beer brewing equipment. Fortunatly, I was able to find the larger brew kettle I was looking for, their last one at that.
The 16 Gallon Polar Ware kettle with spigot and a place to insert a thermometer. Deciding to use it as my new Mash Tun until I'm ready to upgrade to 10 gallon batches. I hit up Lowe's for some PVC pipe and fittings to make my new draining/filtering apparatus.
I tried to ensure it would be removable for later when it no longer performs as my Mash Tun. I also bought ingredients for an American Amber Ale and I'm itching to try my new equipment and especially try the new beer!!
